The challenge
The client was determined to launch a new website that recaptured the interest of his current patients but also inspired interest in new patients looking for a world-class surgeon in orthopaedics. It didn’t come close to providing the education that an online visitor needs to feel comfortable with a decision such as having surgery. The website’s visual look was bland and uninspiring, and the overall user experience was frustrating.
Dr Allan van Zyl needed a new website that added a human touch to his practice.

The solution
It was essential to take the current website from bland to something that communicated the client’s world-class brand without diluting the expertise and integrity of the client. I opted away from fashionable design, choosing a more clean and organised design with structural lines, an optimum amount of whitespace, and modern imagery. To reduce the anxiety Dr Allan van Zyl’s patient’s experience, I focused on using real-life videos and images of the doctor meeting with patients and performing surgery. This added a human touch to the website.
